Clean Sweep

Remember the "sand" that we talked about a while back?

Now most of the snow is gone (it snowed over 10 cm last Saturday while we were away).  Now most of the sand is gone too.  Today I was noting to my Kiwi colleague about how much Public Works does around town.  They:
  • Plow snow
  • Distribute sand
  • Clean up trees broken by the snow
  • Pick up the sand containers at the end of the snow season
  • Put out park benches chained to lamp posts
  • Pick up the winter fire pits and tables
  • Plant Flowers!
  • Pick up most of the trash thrown on the streets (but not all)
  • CLEAN UP THE SAND!
I'm guessing that they recycle the sand, because they seem pretty committed to recycling everything else.

The sand is important, but it has to be put out and cleaned up.  It's work at both ends.

Christian service takes similar work.  It's work at the start, and work at the end.  It's hard, harder than sand, but it's what G^d called us to do, and it's the example that The Christ set for us.
