Cru22-

Every two years, Cru, our Christian Ministry organization, holds a ministry-wide meeting for our staff from around the world. We have been attending this conference since the late 1980’s. Historically it has been held in Ft. Collings, CO, at CO State University. We loved being out there, since it is close to Yellowstone and Jackson Hole. CSU kept raising the prices, and so CRU moved the meeting to Milwaukee for the first time. We had no idea what to expect from meeting in WI.

As soon as Cru announced the locale and sent us the hotel info we immediately booked the cheapest hotel, the Plaza. A couple of weeks later, our ministry branch, Faculty Commons, announced that they had a block of rooms in the Hilton. It turns out that our hotel was about a mile from where the daily meetings were held. The Hilton was 0-2 blocks from the meeting sites. Oh well, walking is good exercise.

As we got to know the city, we discovered the positives. The city is full of flowers which were in full bloom in mid-July when we were there. Walking wasn’t bad, and though it was in the upper 80’s, the low humidity meant that the shade was very nice. We walked through the campus of Milwaukee School of Engineering on our way to and from the meetings each day.
