Florence, but not the Henderson kind (not ref to Jeremy, Florence Henderson- never mind)

Brenda and I were able to squeeze in a day trip to Florence.  We traveled by fast train, and it was only about 30 min ride.  The trains were clean bright, with English announcements and ran  on time.  There are two companies running trains, a private one, Italo, and a public one.  Guess which one is nicest?

Arriving to the city, we cross the big plaza and find a Touristica Center.  The lady there gives us a map, and is very helpful in planning our visit.  Shortly later, we are headed to see the sights.  Just walking through the city is amazing.  It is old old, and extremely beautiful.  A short walk and we are crossing the Po River on the Veccio Bridge.  It is a neat view and the bridge is filled with jewelery stores.  We had never seen anything like it.

Here's the  the bridge:

Here's the entrance to a shop on the bridge with a model of the bridge as the handle:

After a short walk we are at the Palazzo Pitti.  It was once the Royal Palace, and is reminiscent of the current Royal Palace in Stockholm.  Once inside we enter a museum that is a double feast of the arts.  First the room is totally painted with beautiful paintings.  Almost every inch is a work of art.  Then the room is filled with amazing art.  I didn't time us, but we spent a loooong time just looking and asking questions.

The ceiling, which is quite a ways off, is an optical illusion, or is it?  It appears to be totally 3-D, but it is hard to say.  Does that part really project, or not?

It makes us wonder, why did G^d bestow so much artistic talent in the country of Italy?   Is there any place more Blessed with great painters and sculptors?

Just one more mystery of G^d.  It's no shock that I don't understand His ways.  Not sure why we even think we ought to be able to understand even a small part of Him.

"As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. ...  Isa 55:9.

Amen.
