Visiting Eataly

Brenda and I have much enjoyed our time in Italy.  We have been fascinated by how seriously they take food here.  Food seems a bit pricey to us, but it is good, and a major part of the culture.  There are not very many fat people here, but they seem to eat a lot.  At a restaurant last night, we ate all we could hold and ended up bringing food home.

There are lots of specialty shops for food as well as restaurants.  Turkish food seems popular.  Today we visited a food vendor that was loaded with hams, cheeses, and they had a whole room devoted solely to mushrooms.  There are plenty of bakeries and plenty of fruit shops .

Sadly, all this great food is pretty much lost on me.  As I mentioned in an earlier post, I eat live, and don't really have appropriate appreciation for "really good food."

Food is crucial to life, but a well-known Scripture tells us, "Man shall not live by bread alone".  What else is needed?  Peanut butter?

No, we truly live by right relationship with the true and living G^d.  We must feed the body, but more importantly, we must feed the soul.

So, with regard to your soul, "Bon appetit, or in Italian, "Buon Appetito!"
