Grocery Shopping, Italian Style

One of the most interesting things to me in any foreign country is the everyday shopping stores, no, not souvenir shops, but real stores.  Hardware stores are my favorite, but grocery stores are also very, very interesting.  This is where real Italians go to get their food.

The prices are also interesting.  Bananas in Costa Rica are dirt cheap.  Here in Botswana, I have mentioned that beef is really a good deal.

So what do you think is cheap in Italy?  Wine is cheap, cheaper than Coke.  Take a look:

Now to be perfectly honest, and I seldom am, wine is cheaper by the bottle, but the per ml cost is a bit higher for wine, but not by much.

How to we establish the value of something?  Economists will talk of production costs, supply and demand and other factors with all sorts of sophisticated big words.

But how do we establish the value of something that doesn't lend itself to economic and market analysis?

How do we value friendships, value Scripture, value prayer?  Why?

How can we tell what we value?  Whatever we spend time, energy and money on, is what we value.

So what do we value?
