Driving to Klipkuil Nature Reserve

We absolutely loved visiting with the Pritchetts on Klipkuil Nature Reserve, their farm near Montagu, South Africa.  But getting there was a bit tricky, since I was driving in a foreign situation, a car that was new to me, and a GPS that was great, an essential asset, but a bit out of date.

Here's our directions:

I'm giving you directions to get to Klipkuil Nature Reserve. If you are driving down the N1, then turn left 10kms west of Touwsrivier onto the R318.Closed if snow around. Montagu is about 60 kms down that road.

Leaving Montagu in an easterly direction towards Barrydale you must turn left into Talana Rd. If you are coming from Barrydale then turn right into Talana.

Drive 5km on tar then another 10 km on gravel road. At Talana farm turn left onto Poortjieskloof rd. Another 3kms turn right over a dam wall. The turn off is a little obscure being on the crest of a rise.
Over the dam wall 300metres turn right and over a drift and up a slope past some fruit orchards on your left. Keep going another 300 metres and you will come to our open gate with the sign Klipkuil Nature Reserve.

A fairly rough road so slow down !

Also give us your cell phone number. We maybe in reception some time that day. We do not have
reception on the farm here.looking forward to the visit.

The farm is far enough off the road that there are no utilities supplied.  Electricity comes from sun, wind and a small generator when necessary.  Gas comes from bottles and internet from a broadcast signal.  It was one of the most peaceful places we have ever been.
